Lagos, Algarve is located in municipality of Lagos, 80 km (50 miles) west of Faro airport. The town sits at the end of a wide bay, built around harbour with the residential and holiday accommodation to the north. A Lagos holiday is a comfortable mix of old and new in this working town. The most interesting part is the walled old town with narrow streets, churches and traffic free areas. The long history of Lagos is reflected in many of the old buildings. The old town is surrounded by more modern apartment and hotel developments including an attractive large marina.

The beaches close to Lagos are some of the best and least known on the Algarve. Praia de Dona Ana is a long, wide, mix of sand and pebbles with plenty of facilities just 30 minutes walk from the centre of the town. Meia Praia is close by with sands stretching for over 8 km east of Lagos.

There are a good range of shops and bars in Lagos, together with a wide selection of excellent restaurants offering traditional Portuguese and international cuisine. Nightlife is busy in the summer and there is a wide range of pubs (open till 4am) and a couple of discos (open till morning).
The old market hall on the Avenida has a fantastic selection of fresh fish and vegetables. The Portuguese are big fish eaters and everything here is fresh and of top quality.
Transfer time to Lagos from Faro Airport is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
